AUXILIARIES IN MINISTRY
SCHOLASTIC MOTIVATION
NATIONAL TALENT HOUR
INTRODUCTION:
The AUXILIARIES IN MINISTRY CONVENTION of the Church of God In Christ announces the National Talent Hour Competition. This competition will be held annually in the Scholastic Motivational Ministry part of the AIM Convention.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Talent Hour is a time of showcasing the talent of the young people of the Church Of God In Christ. It is in the form of a competition so that our young people may learn how to compete on a minimal level and follow instructions as given.
CATEGORIES:
Musical vocal, instrumental, choral, gospel or classical
Praise Dancers
Drill Teams
Steppers
Art
Woodworking
Inventions
Oratorical Presentations
Miscellaneous
AGE LEVELS:
In an effort to make it fair for all, there will be two levels. 4 to 15 and 16 to 23. If there is a crossing of ages the group will be placed in age group of the majority of the group
PROCEDURES:
Three evenings during the Aim Convention the youth of the church will come to the to the Talent Hour to compete.
· There can be no more then two contestants from a jurisdiction on a given day.
· Contestant will sign in each evening.
· They will be assigned to one of the categories above.
· The MC will alternate calling each category.
· The person or group will be called in the order in which they registered in that category.
TIME LIMITS:
In an effort to have as any youths as possible, present their talent, THERE WILL BE A STRICT TIME LIMIT. Each person or group will have 4 minutes to present their talent. It may be necessary to make a special recording of your music to make it fit the time limits. ANYONE GOING OVER THE TIME LIMITS WILL BE PENALIZED.
JUDGES WILL JUDGE TALENT ON THE FOLLOWING:
· Presentation
· Memorization
· Rhythm
· Communication
· Appearance
· Stage Presence
AWARDS:
Trophies will be awarded each night by categories and age levels. The Talent Hour is responsible for providing the Talent for the SMM DINNER and the Awards Ceremony on Friday. The top talent over the three days will be selected to perform at these events. It will very important that each person or group give the following information when you register. Name, Address, City, State, Gender, Age, Presentation, Church, Pastor, Bishop, Jurisdiction, Convention Hotel and the Room Number of Your Chaperone. Please DO NOT approach the judges or Talent Hour Staff, to inquire if you have been selected. Your chaperone will be notified if a person or group is chosen to perform.
